The NQA Judges Certification program was created in 1979 to assure that those seeking to judge quilts are equipped with the knowledge and skills to do so objectively and with a consistent standard of quality across the United States.
By hiring a Certified Quilt Judge, you support the principles of education, objectivity, thoroughness, fairness, and quality. Both NACQJ and NQA believe that quilt shows using Certified Judges earn greater respect throughout the community, which leads to higher attendance at quilt shows.
The process to become an NQA Certified Judge required a candidate to complete and pass:
- An intense, self-directed study program on all aspects of design,
workmanship, and quilting
- A written response to in-depth questions relating to judging, design,
workmanship and quilting
- A panel review in front of three NQACJ's.
